Typical Coker Project Decision

U. S. refinery economics dictate that they operate a cokers to process the heaviest portion of the crude oil.

APMI implements all phases of coker revamp analysis, including Project Development (FEL), scope definition, process analysis, economics, project management, technology selection, and EPC activities.  APMI has prior experience developing the scope of work and ISBL and OSBL cost estimates for multiple revamp projects and grassroots cokers.

Jack Adams, principal of APMI, focuses on project development associated with Coker revamps, coke drum replacement, and deheading device installation.  He develops the scope of work, using experienced process and project engineers, for all phases of project analysis.

Technology Selection

APMI is familiar with the companies which design grassroots Delayed Cokers and offer coker technology, including ConocoPhillips, Foster Wheeler, and CB&I.  Open art technology is also available.  For a new Coker, the selection of the contractor normally depends on (1) the objectives of the refiner, and (2) the benefits of the each technology as it relates to the refiner's objectives.   This is discussed in more detail in this website.
